This new “Phat” model pays homage to Air Jordan’s past as an impromptu skate shoe. In the 80’s, before there were the big name skate shoe companies, many skated in the Air Jordan 1 as there were few alternatives available. All the pieces of the Air Jordan 1 are in place and little has changed, silhouette wise, but additional padding has been added to the innards and to the tongue. This is similar to what was done to the Nike Dunk as it was slowly converted into the Nike SB version.
